About Erath County
Erath County, located approximately one hour southwest of Fort Worth, offers residents an attractive alternative to big-city life with easy access to metropolitan amenities. With a population just over 40,000, Erath County is home to Stephenville, the county’s seat, as well as Tarleton State University. Erath County is also home to the town of Dublin, the site of Dublin Bottling Works, where Dr Pepper was bottled for 100 years, and Bluff Dale.
Stephenville, with a population of more than 20,000, is the proud home of Tarleton State University, a founding member of the Texas A&M University System. Tarleton is a vibrant learning community with nearly 100 undergraduate and graduate degrees within seven academic colleges.
Stephenville is affectionately known as the “Cowboy Capital of the World.” Agriculture is the town’s leading industry and Erath County is the state’s leading milk producer. In addition to farmers and ranchers, Fortune 500 companies provide a strong manufacturing diversity to the Erath County economy.
